Tasmanian Circus Festival | Media Release | Monday 7th September 2015
A New Tasmanian Circus Festival is currently shaping up and kicks off in January 2016!
The Festival is being held at a new location on circus performer’s Jim Carroll and Schantal Kathriner’s property overlooking the Tamar River just outside Launceston. For more information on Jim and Schantel, http://circustas.com.au/
You can’t talk about a Tasmanian Circus Festival, let alone any Circus Festival, without mentioning the legacy of Tony Rooke and Golconda. Since Tony stopped running his festival, a noticeable void has existed in the Tasmanian community. With that in mind the new Tassie Circus Festival has been created. The Festival Team are all long term attendees and performers of Tony’s Festival and bring that essence to the new Tassie Circus Festival. To Tony, we Thankyou!!!!
The Festival will run five days of master class training and a Public Festival weekend.
The master class training will be conducted by leading artists and trainers from around the country and abroad. Held from 10th -14th January 2016
The Public Festival weekend will feature Australia’s top independent circus and physical theatre companies as well as artists from around the world performing their renowned acts throughout the festival. Other treats include stalls, flying trapeze, high wire, variety shows, cabarets, Pop Up Performances, industry talks, music and Circus Olympics.
We have 3 new purpose designed performance venues that are in the final stages of construction. The highlight is our outdoor main stage with stunning views over the Tamar River.
Camping is available and the preferred experience. Camping tickets will be released mid-September and day tickets released October.
