Are you a young circus artist, dancer, traceur, tricker, gymnast, acrobat or physical performer looking for a challenge?  Do you want to take your skills to the next level and perform as part of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Cultural Programme? The Commonwealth Youth Circus is a nine month training and development programme which aims to create contemporary circus performance with participants aged 15 to 25.

You will be part of a young company of 16 with your own individual fitness, skills and performance programmes led by a team of top coaches. You will get the chance to work with a professional creative team to make high-level performances, staged in summer 2014 as part of the Queens Baton Relay and Commonwealth Games celebrations.

You give 20-25 hours a week and we give you personal tuition, technical and performance skills training, a fitness programme and the chance to work with directors, choreographers and designers. The core team are full-time professionals running successful companies, who see this project as a training ground for the performers of tomorrow. Being part of this new international young company could be a springboard for further education, training or employment in circus arts or other performance disciplines.

The Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme is a nationwide celebration that will be a key part of the Games experience for spectators and visitors, and is a partnership between the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee, Creative Scotland and Glasgow Life.

Are you game?

A background in circus, dance, tricking, physical theatre, acrobatics, gymnastics or parkour is desirable but we will select participants based on potential as well as experience. A good base level of strength, flexibility and stamina will be required, but we are also looking for creativity, stage presence, interaction with others, ability to take direction and commitment to training.
