HOW DID YOU GET INTO CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE?
Learnt how to juggle in primary school and I learnt unicycle when I was 12. Then I joined Zany Yare youth circus in the Blue Mountains.
WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO?
I own Weirder the Better a Circus Shop in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. I keeps me very busy but I always find time to work on new skills in between work. I also share skills and knowledge with anyone who comes in the shop.
WHAT DOES CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE MEAN TO YOU?
It’s my life. I live and breathe it. Everyday I’m looking for the next crazy circus product or working on a way to expand the community.
WHAT’S THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE CAREER SO FAR?
Learning to juggle 5 balls was a great achievement for me it’s something I had been thinking about since I first learnt to juggle.
IF YOU WEREN’T DOING CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING RIGHT NOW?
Traveling, or worse sitting in an office working some dead-end job I hate. I’m so thankful I get to do what I do.
WHAT SKILLS DO YOU LIKE PERFORMING AND WHY?
Acrobalance, I love the teamwork part of it. I like how every person has a place and a job to do that is just as important as the next person. And I hate chasing diabolo or juggling balls when they go flying off stage.
WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN 5 YEARS TIME?
Still doing what I’m doing now but more in the community side of things, getting to more festivals and playing more.
WHY DO WE NEED CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE IN THE WORLD?
It brings people together, it doesn’t discriminate on age, sex, ability or race. It can be competitive or non-competitive. You can start with just a ball or only your body, the possibilities are endless.
