ACAPTA and Catapult have joined forces! In March 2012 circus and physical theatre folk from all over Australia will gather together in Bathurst, NSW for the fourth National Youth Circus and Physical Theatre Festival. For three days festival participants will be offered a wide range of workshops, forums and performances that celebrate youth participation in Circus and Physical Theatre.

Catapult is the meeting point for metropolitan, regional and remote youth circus practitioners and also the meeting point between youth circus and adult professional circus and physical theatre. Catapult plays a vital linking and networking role in a field where participants have previously not been able to meet, share skills and processes or develop national benchmarks and accreditation.  In 2009 the Catapult Festival became a truly national event with representatives of youth circus troupes from every state in the country.  This biennial festival of youth circus and physical theatre has grown from its NSW regional base to be recognized as the national festival for youth circus in Australia.

In 2012 we will be hosting ‘Spirit of the Circus’ sessions, TEASE workshops, Think Tanks, an opening event, a renegade evening, a community day in the park, and Gala performance evening. In order for Catapult to adequately represent a truly unified and national approach the industry must have a significant amount of input into the content of the Festival. Ideas for projects, forums, workshops and performances are proposed by the National Artistic Directorate. These suggestions are then presented to the Executive Directorate, a group consisting of 8 industry leaders, who use this input to advise the content of the current festival program and plan future Catapult Festivals. If you are interested in being a part of the Catapult National Artistic Directorship you can offer your suggestions and contributions by commenting on our Blog http://catapultfestival.blogspot.com

WHEN: Opening event will be on Wednesday 28 March and the Festival will held on Thursday March 29, Friday 30 and Saturday 31 March 2012.

SPECIAL ACAPTA OFFER:
ACAPTA members will receive a 10 % discount on individual and group registration fees.

Catapult is run on very low funds. The key measurable outcome of the Catapult Festival is linking physically, face to face, youth circus troupes who normally practice in isolation. Catapult Festival strives to ensure that youth groups from all economic backgrounds can afford to attend the Festival. We try to keep registration fees low, and provide financial support to ensure that groups can attend.

In order for this to happen we need as much financial support as possible. We apply for government funding to assist us in offering high quality workshops, presenters and performances at the festival; however we still need as much funding as possible in order to support the attendance of young circus and physical theatre performers from around Australia.

We have set up a Pozible Crowd Funding website:http://www.pozible.com.au/index.php/archive/index/1481/description/0/0   This opens for donations on November 1st.

We have kept our financial goal low so that we can guarantee at least some support is offered to the groups attending.

Please Donate! The more donations we receive, the more financial support we will be able to offer the young people attending this fantastic event
