Registrations are now open for the 2012 Anywhere Theatre Festival (10-19 May 2012), an amazing festival in its second year only for performance outside traditional theatres.

Theatre companies, performers, in fact anyone wanting to be part of the second Anywhere Theatre Festival are invited to register now.

Due to hit Brisbane and surrounds 10-19 May 2012, the Anywhere Theatre Festival is the first festival in the world for performances anywhere but traditional theatres – a park in Yeronga, a backyard in Wellington Point, a house in Nundah, a community hall in Redcliffe, an elevator in Springfield, even a performance in Germany being live streamed to Brisbane audiences. Anywhere but a traditional theatre.

“For the inaugural 2011 festival we planned for ten productions and 40 performances over ten days - we ended with 38 productions and 152 performances! We were blown away by the productions and the audiences,” said Paul Osuch, Festival DIrector of the Anywhere Theatre Festival

“One of the great things about it is that like the great fringe festivals in Edinburgh and Melbourne, anyone can be part of it. Since traditional theatres are out of the equation, it also allows anyone to put on a show without having to stumping up huge wads of cash just to pay for a theatre space,” said Paul

Companies and individuals can register online at www.anywherefest.com between now and the 31st of January 2012. Early bird discount by 30th of November 2011

“The registration fee is significantly reduced for those who register interest by the early bird deadline of 30th of November so we encourage people to book in early, even if they are still working out the specifics of their production.”, said Paul.

The 2011 festival featured a range of local performers and companies from Circa and Bella Diva through to national and international performers like Cracked Pavement {Pictured}

Like last year, performances can be anywhere in Brisbane and surrounds and performances happening around the world that Brisbane audiences can access via the internet.

“Performers can even be part of the festival while performing it from anywhere globally and have an audience here in Brisbane participating online,” said Paul. “That makes this a very affordable way to be part of the festival without having to figure out how artists pay for the airfare to get to Brisbane.”

The 2011 Anywhere Theatre Festival had six key partners without whose support the festival would not have happened - Oblong + Sons Design, Arts Queensland, Quest Newspapers, Brisbane City Council, Image Solutions and Queensland Arts Council.
