New Leader of Flipside Circus

A new year sees a new CEO take their place at Flipside Circus, Queensland’s largest youth arts company. William Pike is taking the helm from Debbie Wilks who is stepping down after ten years of service at the company. William comes with a vibrancy that will no doubt continue to see Flipside Circus achieve world class success.
Hamish Clift, Chair of Flipside’s Board, says William comes to Flipside with a cornucopia of knowledge and experience of the performing arts sector. William also brings a particular understanding of the need to provide young people the opportunity to explore their place in the world through the arts and through circus.

Mr Pike said he was happy to be building on the amazing work of Debbie Wilks, who has raised the profile of Flipside Circus not only nationally, but internationally. “Past students have gone on to perform for world-class companies like Circa, Company 2, Casus, Briefs and Cirque Du Soleil. The company’s reputation in the community at large is first-rate.”

About William Pike
William joined the Brisbane Powerhouse team in 2006 in a newly created role of Theatre Hire Manager which was responsible for managing the commercial hiring of the theatre spaces. William set about harnessing the potential of the venues commercial activities and grew this commercial arm of the organisation. William was appointed to the role of Program Manager in 2011 and led a team of producers to deliver one of the most varied annual arts programs in Queensland.
William as Program Manager produced Brisbane Comedy Festival which has grown to become one of the most popular festivals in Queensland with over 30,000 visitations across the four-week festival each year. Another program William was passionate about was Powerkids the much loved school holiday program for children aged 2-12 and their families which he produced for three years.
Early in his career as a high school drama teacher William worked at Kenmore State High School.
