Flipside Circus is proud to launch a new, 8 week full time training course for circus artists to develop their artistic practise. Led by Natano Faanana (Briefs, Polytoxic, Casus) the course will include creating a new work, ensuring participants are developing their individual artistic style and receive professional development in marketing and promoting their work.
The 8 week full time course is currently open for expressions of interest and will run from the 6th of October until the 28th November, 2014 and includes up to 25 contact hours per week for $3000.00. The course offers participants access to world class trainers who are active circus artists with high level skills and enviable reputations who will teach, motivate and inspire across a range of disciplines for the eight week period.
Over the past three years some major Australian works have been created and developed at Flipside Circus. The widely acclaimed Cantina –was developed by Strut n Fret Production House and Company 2. In 2011 Casus created Knee Deep at Flipside Circus and this show is still enjoying a world tour. Flipside’s space is welcoming and is a great place to train and has attracted the crème of circus artists from around the country. It is more than just a facility – it is a hub, a community space and a place where you will always be welcomed.

Natano Faanana will lead the creative component of the course and will play a major role in facilitating throughout the 8 weeks. Natano is a member of Casus who have shaped and developed a unique style that has mesmerised audiences throughout the world. Natano is excited to work with artists and encourage their own individual storytelling and unique style. Natano has an exceptional reputation as a teacher and is highly regarded throughout the Australian circus industry. Natano is a member of Polytoxic and Briefs and has taught with Flipside for over 5 years.
Accompanying Natano on the floor will be Bayaraa Odonchimeg (Mongolian State Circus) Acrobatics, tumble, swinging trapeze, static trapeze and David Carberry – (Circa, Tom Tom Crew, Company 2)
