Are you a young circus artist, dancer, traceur, tricker, gymnast, acrobat or physical performer looking for a challenge? Do you want to take your skills to the next level and perform as part of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Cultural Programme? The Commonwealth Youth Circus is a nine month training and development programme which aims to create contemporary circus performance with participants aged 15 to 25.
You will be part of a young company of 16 with your own individual fitness, skills and performance programmes led by a team of top coaches. You will get the chance to work with a professional creative team to make high-level performances, staged in summer 2014 as part of the Queens Baton Relay and Commonwealth Games celebrations.
You give 20-25 hours a week and we give you personal tuition, technical and performance skills training, a fitness programme and the chance to work with directors, choreographers and designers. The core team are full-time professionals running successful companies, who see this project as a training ground for the performers of tomorrow. Being part of this new international young company could be a springboard for further education, training or employment in circus arts or other performance disciplines.
The Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme is a nationwide celebration that will be a key part of the Games experience for spectators and visitors, and is a partnership between the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee, Creative Scotland and Glasgow Life.
Are you game?
