Morgan Wilson [VIC]

Morgan Wilson 524x349HOW DID YOU GET INTO CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE?
I grew up at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire in California, where my job was to be a Pirate. I got to growl at people and drool on myself which is a pretty great job if you can get it. So that was my start in physical theatre and then when I was 18, I went to a Circus summer camp in Vermont, (Circus Smirkus) got horribly ill, then as I lay in bed thinking about my complete inability to move, I also though this is the most fun I’ve ever done in my life and I’m going to do it forever, so far so good.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO?
I listen to a ton of music, build things when I get a chance, and I’m just starting to learn harmonica!

WHAT DOES CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE MEAN TO YOU?
It’s how I express myself. It’s like that time you were so excited about that thing and you tried to describe it to your friends and all that happened was you waved your arms around and went “Hu B Uh IEE aa ohh!” and made silly faces. It’s how I get to share that excitement with the world in a way that make sense, sometimes…

WHAT’S THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE CAREER SO FAR?
Creating and performing …We Should Quit with Tom [McDonald] and Avan [Whaite]. It was really great to get a chance to bring some of my own ideas to life and even more amazing to see that people really liked some of them. Check out the We Should Quit TRAILER.

IF YOU WEREN’T DOING CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING RIGHT NOW?
I would be a prima ballerina without a doubt.

WHAT SKILLS DO YOU LIKE PERFORMING AND WHY?
I really love performing clown, its just great, making faces at people.

WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN 5 YEARS TIME?
I’d like to be performing and touring the world doing some super awesome circus show, while still learning.

WHY DO WE NEED CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE IN THE WORLD?
Because without it life would be all black and white, just look around at all the people not using their bodies to the fullest, it’s like they’re missing something, by using that extra physical vocabulary you can paint the world any colour you like.
