WHAT’S THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE CAREER SO FAR?
Performing my first three high (I was middling) in front of 400+ people at Hoopla in Sydney earlier this year was pretty damn good!

WHAT SKILLS DO YOU LIKE PERFORMING AND WHY?
I’ve been really enjoying fire eating at the moment, and have been developing a bunch of Magic routines that have a sideshow twist (think chainsaws!) for my new show The Syndicate. At the conclusion of performing my card magic routine in Canberra earlier this year one audience member was heard to gasp “Oh what the Fuck?!” which was pretty satisfying!
WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN 5 YEARS TIME?
Be the first person to do a triple backsault on the moon. Also I’d like to still be getting encouraged and supported to do ridiculous and dangerous things in public.
WHY DO WE NEED CIRCUS/PHYSICAL THEATRE IN THE WORLD?
I think that we need a lot of things in the world. More empathy, justice, equality and peace would be a great start. If circus and physical theatre artists can use what they do to work towards that then we’re invaluable at getting past people’s psychic defences against change. But if it’s just entertaining distraction then is it useful?
